“Bible Believing” Frauds and Cowards

Let’s take a survey of some of the “statements of belief” that are available on-line for some of the churches that claim to be conservative Bible believers and see whether or not they really are.

For each one the relevant portion of their belief statement is given {with emphasis added} and our resulting analysis given:

SURVEY OF STATEMENTS OF BELIEF REGARDING THE BIBLE

First Baptist Church of Freeport, Illinois. Caleb Kolstad, Senior Pastor.

“The Holy Scripture: We believe both the Old and New Testaments to be the verbal, plenary, inspired, inerrant, infallible Word of God, and our authoritative guide to faith and practice. The Bible is the only sufficient, certain, and infallible rule of all saving faith, knowledge, and obedience. (II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21)”

“We believe the Scriptures of the Old Testament and New Testament are verbally inspired by God and inerrant in their original writings. We believe the 66 books of the Old Testament and the New Testament are God’s complete and sufficient revelation and therefore carry God’s authority for the total well-being of mankind (Psalm 119:97-104; Psalm 119:160; Matthew 5:18; John 5:46-47; John 10:35; 2 Timothy 3:15-16).”

“The Holy Scriptures. We teach that the Bible is God’s written revelation to man, and thus the sixty six books of the Bible given to us by the Holy Spirit constitute the plenary (inspired equally in all parts) Word of God (1Corinthians 2:7 14; 2 Peter 1:20 21). We teach that the Word of God is an objective, propositional revelation (1 Thessalonians 2:13; 1 Corinthians 2:13), verbally inspired in every word (2 Timothy 3:16), absolutely inerrant in the original documents, infallible, and God breathed. We teach the literal, grammatical historical interpretation of Scripture which affirms the belief that the opening chapters of Genesis present creation in six literal days (Genesis 1:31; Exodus 31:17). We teach that the Bible constitutes the only infallible rule of faith and practice (Matthew 5:18; 24:35; John 10:35; 16:12 13; 17:17; 1 Corinthians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:15 17; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Peter 1:20 21). We teach that God spoke in His written Word by a process of dual authorship. The Holy Spirit so superintended the human authors that, through their individual personalities and different styles of writing, they composed and recorded God’s Word to man (2 Peter 1:20 21) without error in the whole or in the part (Matthew 5:18; 2 Timothy 3:16). We teach that, whereas there may be several applications of any given passage of Scripture, there is but one true interpretation. The meaning of Scripture is to be found as one diligently applies the literal grammatical historical method of interpretation under the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit (John 7:17; 16:12 15; 1 Corinthians 2:7 15; 1 John 2:20). It is the responsibility of believers to ascertain carefully the true intent and meaning of Scripture, recognizing that proper application is binding on all generations. Yet the truth of Scripture stands in judgment of men; never do men stand in judgment of it.”

Leesville Road Baptist Church, Evington, VA. Kevin Brooks senior pastor.

“The Bible is our sole authority for faith and conduct because it is inerrant and inspired in the original manuscripts. The written material is referred to in 2 Timothy 3:16. We believe in the verbal-plenary inspiration of Scripture, that is, the 39 books in the Old Testament and the 27 books in the New Testament are God-breathed. God used men (2 Peter 1:21) along with their personalities, cultural surroundings, intellect, etc., to write His Word. God by the agency of the Holy Spirit, guarded the very words so that they constitute God’s inerrant revelation to men. We believe that since the Bible is infallible and without error, it is, therefore, totally trustworthy and reliable in all matters it addresses (e.g. science, history, etc.) and totally sufficient for man’s needs. (2 Tim. 3:16-17) With the conclusion of the book of the Revelation by the Apostle John, Biblical inspiration ceased (Revelation 22: 18-20).”

“We believe that the Bible is wholly inspired by God. God superintended human writers so that using their own personalities they composed and recorded without error God’s Revelation to man, in the words of the original manuscript. We believe in the verbal plenary inspiration of the Bible. Every word in the original manuscripts was spoken (given) by God and recorded without error. We believe that the Bible is made up of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament. We believe God has and will preserve His Word for this present time and forever. We believe the Bible is the believer’s sole authority of faith and practice. II Timothy 3:16,17; II Peter 1:19-21; John 10:35; Matthew 24:35; John 20:30,31; John 17:17.”

“We believe that all Scripture is given by inspiration of God. We understand the whole Bible is inspired in the sense that holy men of God “were moved by the Holy Spirit” to write the very word (verbal inspiration) of Scripture. We believe that the Bible, comprised of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments; that these sacred writings are complete, fully authoritative (plenary inspiration), without error (Inerrant) as they appeared in the original manuscripts and preserved in the totality of manuscripts for us today. We believe that all the Scriptures are at their core about the Lord Jesus Christ in His person and work who is Himself the Word of God made Flesh (John 1:1-2). Because of their divine inspiration the scriptures are the final authority for faith and life, profitable for, reproof, correction and training in righteousness (II Tim. 3:16, 17; 2 Peter 1:20, 21; Matthew 5:18; John 16:12, 13)”

Fellowship Baptist Church, Clarklake, MI. Pastor Daniel White.

“THE INSPIRATION OF THE BIBLE – The inspiration of the Bible is God’s superintendency of the human authors so that, using their own personalities, background, education, etc., they composed and recorded without error His revelation to man. Not only is the Bible inspired, but also it is authoritative and is our only authority of life and practice (Joshua 1:8). We believe in the verbal inspiration of scripture. Verbal inspiration means that the Holy Spirit guided in the choi8ce of the words used in the original writings. However, the Holy Spirit chose words from the author’s vocabulary, retaining the human writers personal characteristics (II Peter 1:21). PLENARY INSPIRATION – We believe in the plenary inspiration of Scripture. Plenary inspiration means the full or total inspiration, which opposes those who believe in partial inspiration (II Timothy 3:16). We believe in the infallibility of Scripture. The Bible contains no errors as to statement of fact. The Bible records everything accurately. Fellowship Baptist Church uses only the King James Version of the Bible.

All those above are frauds and cowards. Chosen randomly as a sample of supposedly conservative Bible believing Churches, they all fail the analysis. But they aren’t alone – what they claim to believe is verbatim what almost every single “bible” church in America believes.  They all claim things about the “holy scriptures” in the original that they have never seen, but they won’t ever state that God can give you a copy of them today to read in English.

A couple of them above did call the King James Bible a “bible” and said they “use” it exclusively. But they cowardly refused to say whether or not they believe the KJV is “holy scriptures” – and thus also given by inspiration (2 Timothy 3:16). Either they do believe so, but are too cowardly to say it, or else they mentioned the King James Bible just to fool real Bible believers.

Disgraceful. And people wonder why there is so much apostasy and infidelity in the churches today.

  1. I am curious, on what basis are you setting your standard of true bible believers as those that “define” the Bible and scriptures as those that can read it in plain English. If some of those you mentioned would agree with the concept but do not have it as part of their doctrinal statement, are they still a fraud? On what grounds do you make this statement.

    1. Some are FRAUDS – they’ve never seen any “original” and so can’t honestly say anything dogmatic about it and obviously can’t pretend a missing document has any authority here and now. Others are COWARDS, as I mentioned, they keep secret whatever they really believe and just say what they “use”. Using a Bible is not the same as believing it to be Holy Scriptures. Holding forth a King James Bible and calling it “the scriptures” is nothing but a lie if you don’t actually believe that book is “scripture” – and if it is “scripture” then 2 Timothy 3:16 applies because it says regarding “scripture” that “ALL scripture is given by inspiration of God.”

My authority for judging all things, including the doctrinal statements of any church, is the Book of Books – the Authorized Version, aka the KING JAMES BIBLE. It exists and can be read and is the most published book ever and fountainhead of endless revivals and the praise of even its enemies. I take it as such supreme authority on the basis of BELIEVING because that’s what “Bible Believing” means: I have faith in the book I read. If you don’t, you’ll have to answer to God.

Here are some churches that managed to come up with doctrinal statements that aren’t fraudulent nor cowardly:

      1. Trinity Baptist Church, TX. “Because inspiration without preservation would be meaningless, and the original manuscripts of the Bible are no longer in existence, God has supernaturally and providentially preserved His Word, without error, for us today in the AV 1611 (King James Version) of the Bible. We believe that this preserved Bible is the final authority for us in all matters of faith, doctrine, and practice. Finally, we believe that Christians should not only believe the Book, but also do what it commands and teaches.”
      http://www.tbctexas.org/what-we-believe.html

      2. Lighthouse Baptist Church, pastor Bart Spencer. “We believe that the Word of God is indestructible and will always be with us. Therefore, knowing God is not the author of confusion we believe that the Bible is still with us and not contained in many versions or translations. We believe it is entirely contained (for English speaking people) in the King James Version. Therefore, for all purposes the King James Version, we believe, is the Word of God and it will be the only Bible used in this church by any pastor, teacher, evangelist, or LBC supported missionary preaching both at LBC or the English speaking peoples abroad.”
      http://www.lbcholland.com/what-we-believe/

      3. Hope Baptist Church in Toledo, Ohio. “We believe that the Authorized King James 1611 Bible is the inspired and preserved words of God in the English language and is therefore the supreme, inerrant, infallible, and final authority in all matters of faith, creeds, and conduct.”
      http://hopetoledo.org/what-we-believe.html

      4. Suburban Heights Baptist Church. “The King James Version of the Bible is the only English version we accept and use and believe. We believe the King James Bible is the inspired, preserved, inerrant, perfect word of God. The King James Bible is our sole authority and final authority for faith and practice.”
      http://www.shbaptistchurch.com/menu/id/18/Statement%20of%20Faith

      5. High Street Baptist Church, Columbus, OH. “We also believe that the miracle of this divine inspiration also extends to the divine preservation of a pure text to this day. Therefore, we believe and stand firmly that have the very Word of God preserved in the King James Bible for the English Speaking People.”
      http://www.highstreetbaptistchurch.com/our-beliefs/

      6. Central Baptist Church, Greeneville, SC. “We believe God not only inspired every word, but has preserved them through the ages. We believe the King James Version is the preserved Word of God for the English-speaking people.”
      http://www.cbcgreeneville.com/our-purpose-beliefs/

      7. Berean Baptist Church. Winston-Salem, NC. Pastor Ronnie Baity. “It is the conviction of Berean Baptist Church and of all the ministries of Berean Baptist Church that God, through the Holy Spirit, only communicated one Bible and not many different “versions” of His Word to mankind, and this “one” Bible, specifically being the Holy Bible which was translated and printed from the original manuscripts known as the Textus Receptus, and was then translated into the English language commonly known as the Authorized King James Bible of 1611. (This is not to be confused with the New King James Version which does not hold true to the doctrine and convictions of the Authorized King James Bible of 1611.) Any and all reference henceforth in this Statement of Faith will therefore refer to the 1611 King James Bible. Please refer to II Timothy 3:16-17 and II Peter 1:20-21.”
      http://www.wpipbereanradio.org/statementoffaith

All of those churches confirmed that the King James Bible is not just to be “used” but to be “believed”.

And finally here is a bad example – yet it has no cowardice or fraud, they say exactly the absurd and contradictory and untenable position that they hold: they profess to believe the KJV but actually set it up as one of TWO rival authorities that compete – English versus Greek/Hebrew – so that human reason can ultimately be the final judge between them:

Sword of the Lord Ministries. “WE BELIEVE the Bible, the Scriptures of the Old Testament and the New Testament, preserved for us in the Masoretic text (Old Testament) Textus Receptus (New Testament) and in the King James Bible, is verbally and plenarily inspired of God. It is the inspired, inerrant, infallible, and altogether authentic, accurate and authoritative Word of God, therefore the supreme and final authority in all things”

I deleted your links because I’d rather you didn’t use my comment section to troll for clicks.

Anyhow, from now on go ask your “pastors” Kristen and Crystal for advice and don’t bother me.
