Missions go West

Go west young man, go west!

“After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not. {8} And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas. {9} And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. {10} And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them. {11} Therefore loosing from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia, and the next day to Neapolis; {12} And from thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of Macedonia, and a colony: and we were in that city abiding certain days. {13} And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither. {14} ¶ And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.”
(Acts 16:7-14)

Notice, the Holy Ghost refused to permit the apostle St Paul to travel toward the direction of East – his missionary journey had to go Westward.

Although the Old Testament God recalled Jonah from his westward path (Jonah 1:3), in the New Testament the Spirit demands that the Gospel circle the globe in a Westward direction – the same direction that the sun travels, and opposite to the direction in which the earth turns. And that is an appropriate analogy: God’s people must run counter to the direction of this fallen world, and follow instead the heavenly direction of our light, Jesus Christ.

The great revivals crossed Europe and all of Europe and proceeded in the same direction to America. National greatness “coincidently” followed the same path.

And now, Westward across the great Pacific Ocean as the sun travels, rising on the Orient, the Spirit of God has a work to complete in the land of the Orient.

Christianity has orderly progressed around the globe from left to right and now the sun is rising on a people have long been in darkness. China, India, Japan, and the rest of the Orient – and even Russia – have doors open for potentially great revivals and populations turning to Jesus Christ – but only if they will receive it.

Green-Red Hall: In 1863 Shishi Samurai founded "Sonno-Joi" movement here ("Revere the Emperor, Expel the Barbarian") which led to Japan's modernization and Meji period restoration.
Green-Red Hall, Kyoto: Here throughout 1863 the anti-shogunate Shishi Samurai founded the “Sonno-Joi” movement (“Revere the Emperor, Expel the Barbarian”) which civil war eventually led to the Meji restoration and the modernization of Japan.

“And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, {3} Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.” (Revelation 7:2-3)
